Horse Riding

Horse back riding is one of the most thrilling, exciting, and rewarding activities you will ever have the pleasure of experiencing. These majestic creatures also have the ability to calm and relax the most stressed of us, and can teach us a serenity and peace we could experience no other way. Riding horses can also be very dangerous, so it is very important that you know the basics before you saddle up.

There are many facets of riding a horse. Experienced riders can enjoy and partake in activities such as cutting, barrel racing, and even participating in cattle herding. Showing and competitive horsemanship are also much enjoyed horse riding activities. Before you can master anything beyond a nice pace on a well trained trail horse, it is important to take a few well received lessons from an experienced rider first. A good teacher can impress upon you the importance of safety as well as good communication with your equine friend.

Be sure you are wearing proper footwear and clothing, and always stretch your muscles before getting on a horse. These are large animals and you will use muscles you never knew you had. Always mount a horse on its left side, and approach gently, letting the horse know you are there. Be sure to be calm and sure of yourself, as horses are sensitive and can understand emotional signals. The calmer you are, the more secure your horse. Always be aware of your surroundings. Remember that when it comes to riding a horse, safety is always first.
