Farming in the West

Each state in the western US is known for the type of food that it is best at growing. Obviously, different states are better at growing certain foods, due to their varying climates. Farmers are depended on throughout both the United States and the world to produce crops that will be able to support the economy and supply businesses and consumers with food.

There are 13 states that are considered to be in the western United States. The climates in these states are extremely varied; some are quite cold, while a few of them are actually the hottest areas in the entire United States. Southern California and Arizona generally have extremely warm weather, and they are best known for growing citrus fruits. California's Napa Valley is also famous for its many vineyards and wine reserves. Washington is famous for the apples that they grow, while Idaho is known for their delicious potatoes. Oregon has many onion farms spread across miles and miles of fields. Of course, these are just a few of the western states that produce crops and other products used throughout the world.

Each state farms something different than the other, but they all offer the world important items that we need and consume on a daily basis. Without the hard work and dedication from these farmers, these everyday products would soon disappear. We need these farmers to maintain our daily eating lifestyles. Support your local farmer and buy at your local farmers markets. Don't let farming become history.
