Horseback Riding

When you are a beginner at horseback riding, the thought of horseback riding can be exciting. You will need some guidance if you have never been on a horse before. Read and learn all that you can about horseback riding and horses. It is a good idea to take riding lessons and learn the chores involved in taking care of a horse before you get one. It also helps to get to know the horse you are going to ride, his or her body language, and temperament.

When first riding, make sure that you stay in wide-open areas. Stay away from fences, low hanging tree branches, or steep hills. To stay on the horses back will require you to have good balance and concentration. Make sure that you are always in control of the horse, and the horse is not controlling you. Always keep your eyes open for things that can spook the horse or make it rear up.

Make sure that you get the necessary equipment for horseback riding. The saddle will help you stay on the horse. It also provides comfort while riding. The saddlecloth or blanket should be large enough to stick out about an inch or two all around the saddle. This will help eliminate the possibility of pinching the horse. The bridle is what gives you control and aides in turning the horse. Always wear a safety helmet and flat-soled boots. You might want to wear pants and a long-sleeved shirt to avoid the brushes and weeds.
