Western Life Living

Western lifestyle living captures images of cattle, horses, wildlife, cowboys, cowgirls, wide open ranges, mountain ranges and even fishing and hunting.

The Western life was born out of strength of character, self-preservation and a strong sense of purpose that has carried through to today. Over 29 communities in the Western United States were included in Outdoor Life’s list of the 200 “Best Places to Live!” published in March 2008. Crime Rates, housing cost and economy are just a few of the factors that were considered in the ranking. Most of these communities are small with a population of 5,000 to 15,000 providing relief from the hustle and bustle of city life. For instance, the State of Idaho has had recent growth in technology and manufacturing that is helping to keep their economy strong and provide jobs. These Western communities offer recreational outlets ranging from fishing, hunting, skiing, and hiking to snowmobiling and off-road adventures. The diversity of the landscape also allows for ranching. Regardless of the day of the week there is always work to be done on a ranch. Several Dude Ranches provide tourists with an opportunity to try the “real” western life by helping with herd round ups and branding. The cowboys that work on the ranches truly love the work they do. The landscape can be quite breathtaking and harsh at the same time with the diverse landscape ranging from open ranges to mountains to volcanoes.

These Western communities are a rancher and outdoorsman’s paradise.
