Let's Go Bareback Riding

If you are considering bareback horse riding, it is important to know some things first. If you have never ridden a horse before, it is not a good idea to make your first ride bareback, as it can be very dangerous. You can use bareback riding though to improve your balance while riding a horse. It is very important if you have never ridden bareback to make sure there is an experienced or professional rider present to assist when needed. If possible, use a very docile horse. Use the same TAC equipment as you would if your horse was saddled. For better comfort and ease of riding you can use a lambswool bareback riding pad. In order to mount the horse, because you will have no stirrups, you will need a mounting block, railing, or another rider to give you a boost to get onto your horse.

Make sure when mounting and dismounting a horse for bareback riding to move slowly and gently so as not to spook the horse. Once you get used to riding bareback, you may decide to do it more often, as it is fun and free, many horses prefer this type of exercise, because they are not restricted by a saddle and cinch and can move more freely. When done riding, make sure to dismount carefully and care for you horse properly. Above all make sure to follow your instincts, and pay attention to your horses instincts as well and you will have a ride to remember.
