The Challenges Of Farming

Farmers experience a variety of problems. Some are governmental, are some natural, and some are just plain bad luck.

Some of the major troubles with farming include such things as the weather. The weather delivers some massive hurricanes and floods, and also involves droughts and famine. When hurricanes and droughts hit, entire crops and fields can be devastated, making years of work wasted because the soil must be reworked and tilled again. Sometimes, this type of soil preparation can take years to perfect and long hours in the field. Another major issue is the government and the environment. Oftentimes, legislation is passed meant to curb pollution and waste but at the same time, hurts the farmers ability to deliver a timely crop due to certain restrictions placed on the farmer. This of course, hurts profitability and could potentially bring down a business. Competition is yet another problem to face when farming. Sometimes, when one part of the country is being hit by droughts or hurricanes, another part of the country is having a fantastic year in crop growing. This means, for example, that if a corn crop goes bad in one part and well in another, overall corn prices stay low making profit impossible for the farm having problems.

Regardless of what part of the country or world one is farming in, there are bound to be issues. Problems can come anywhere from untimely deliveries to machine failure to employee issues.
