Western Life Styles

Have you ever thought of today's western civilizations to be groups of cowboys and Indians, like what you might see on an old television show? Though they may still live similar lives, there is a lot more to westerners than what the media portrays.

Some people who live in the west still follow older traditions today. Cowboys still make a living by wrangling cattle. Horses and wagons are sometimes used as transportation instead of modern vehicles. There are plenty of farmers who own large ranches out there. Even the belief that shaking someone's hand is as good as a promise is still going strong out in the western United States.

Many people who live out in the west seem to want to keep embracing the old ways instead of changing them completely. It was not that long ago that the "old west" of cowboys and Indians existed. A lot of westerners who are still living today were born and raised with old west ideas and beliefs. However, they do not reject new ideas completely.

If a change will have a positive and beneficial influence on their lives, then westerners will welcome it into their lives. There are now many factories and machines being used that were not there several centuries ago. But some still prefer to do their work the old fashioned way.

The west started out with many struggles before it was able to become what it is today, and westerners will never forget all the hard work that went into making their land a home.
