Cowboys

Cowboys are best known for rounding up cattle while riding their horses. With their cowboy boots, hat, belt buckle, and the ruff looking outfit, they haven’t changed much. The modern cowboy has his own style that is different from the old cowboys.

Even though there is a decline in cowboys and technology has been on the fast track, there is still a need for modern day cowboys. There are only very few places to see cowboys is in the western United States. Most will be in smaller towns or on ranches working.

The modern cowboy still has the same jobs to do on the ranch like taking care of the livestock. They also need to tend to the injured animals and take care of branding or earmarking the cattle. They also move the cattle to a different pasture if there is more than one on the ranch. Patrolling the fences looking for any damage is up to them as well. If they find damage they are supposed to fix it. They also do any maintenance roles around the ranch.

Each cowboy is assigned a job depending on the size of the ranch. The bigger the ranches the more cowboys are needed. The smaller the ranch the less cowboys are needed. A cowboy's job is not one specific task. Most know how to do anything that may be needed around the ranch. While there are some differences in modern and old cowboys, most of the cowboys like to hold to old traditions and methods.
