Many farms in the west have gone to raising organic foods, herbs, and other products. Because organic products are very popular it seems like the logical step. Even farms that raise beef, lamb, and pork are using organic process to prepare meat for market. This is actually a great move on the part of the farmer. Because the animals are taken care of with so much more attention and proper care they produce better meat that can be sold at a higher price.
Since they are now also raising produce without the assistance of pesticides and other chemicals (including hormones like growth hormones) the food is healthier and better for the human. Because organic foods are grown without pesticides or other chemicals (including preservatives) it is important to store them properly or they will spoil quickly.
Many Western US farms are still using pesticides and preservatives to grow their vegetables and produce. This is not necessarily a bad thing because it gives us options. If you would like organic food you can get it and the same goes for non organic foods. No matter what type of foods you eat Western Farms of the US are usually the farms that produce it.
Agriculture is still a big part of US production. From fruits, vegetables, and beef in California, to fruits, and vegetables in Florida, farmers work hard every day to put food on the tables of hard working Americans and their families. So take some time each night when you sit down to eat to show gratitude and respect for the American Farmer.
