Living on a Farm

A family living on a farm has the opportunity to work, live and play together. The children grow up around all kinds of animals and pets. Time can be taken off during the day to do many things that people on a regular job are not able to get time off to do. The privacy of living in the country is an advantage. There are many open spaces around the farms so neighbors are not close.

Children learn responsibility by doing chores and learning the way of life on a farm. Healthy goals and values are set for everyone. Parents have the experience of watching their children grow and learning things they would not be able to otherwise. Couples place a high value on working together on the farm and building strength in marriage.

There can be financial challenges to living on a farm as there is only one income. The fast hurried pace of living in the city as everyone hastens off to work is unknown in the country. The winter is a slow time on the farm as there is not too much outside work to do. If the family has cows they have to be milked twice a day as well as fed.

There are some disadvantages in that there are few activities available for children. In the city there is the library and things like little league. The weather is a big part of farm living as farmers depend on it for rain for their crops as well as the sun to help them grow. One of the benefits of living on a farm is that you are always busy. The hours are long but you are together as a family.
