The Lifestyle of America’s West

For centuries people have all heard about the “Old West.”. Whether it is through the stories in history books or the old western movies, it seems that many Americans want to hang on to the charm and appeal of the “Old West.” Maybe it is the romance of a lifestyle lost that lures people into living the life of a cowboy.

No matter what the reason, there are still many people in the western states that do live this. There are still many working cattle ranches and many other rural areas where people still spend their day farming, raising their own animals, wearing the western duds and bellying up to the bar at the local watering hole after a hard day’s work. It is not uncommon to find rodeos on a regular basis or find that the only general store in town still carries a full supply of the boots, hats, belts, and ropes.

You can still find those that ride for miles on their horse’s every day, scouting for a stray horse or calf that might have been separated from the herd or spending hours out repairing fences. Then it’s back home at day’s end for a hearty meal and maybe a bit of relaxing by a fire with a pot of coffee. Still not much television is watched in these areas, as it is very early to rise and start another day of heavy chores and physical labor in hot sun of the old West.
