Most people think of Texas long horn cattle and old time cowboys when thinking of western wear.

Western clothing is tight fitting for safety. Jeans are made so they don't flip and flop and scare the livestock. Shirts are made to fit snuggly for more ease of movement when cowboys use lariats and handle calves and cows. Western shirts usually have a prominent yoke at the shoulder. Western or Cowboy boots are said to be comfortable. In the old time west, boots had a heel so the cowboy could urge their horses to go faster. The same style is popular even today.

Western clothing today has become fancier and is made with different materials. Lots are decorated with sequins, beads, embroidery and rope designs. Some of the different articles are jeans, shirts, cowboy hats, scarves, vests, coats, cowboy boots, belts and buckles, T-shirts, chaps, and gloves.
