The Good Life Western Style

The American West is defined as land west of the Mississippi River. Western culture affects everything from clothing to ranches. It influences music, television and movie industries. In the Library of Congress there are several wood engravings and paintings of the early West. These works of art depict gun fighting, early U. S. Mail delivery, settlers making their way to a promised land and many more scenes.

In the state of Arizona there are plenty of early historical landmarks and western style living. In Tombstone for instance you can visit Boot Hill graveyard. This town is an obvious top stop for tourists. It was known as a completely lawless, raucous place in the 1880’s for gamblers, miners, outlaws and early settlers. You can even witness a reenactment of the 1881 gunfight at the O.K. Corral between the Earp brothers aided by Doc Holiday and the Clanton Gang. For a taste of the cowboy living you can visit a dude ranch and experience the day to day workings of a real ranch.

Real estate is also very plentiful for ranches. Ranch living, raising a variety of livestock and crops is not always profitable. It depends of several variables including things like weather and insects. Another way of living is on a dude Ranch or outfitters style ranch, taking a party of hunters out during hunting season for that ultimate trophy. In the summer work there involves taking camping trips, day trail rides and everyday ranch living and chores.
