The Style of the West

When you think of the West, you might picture cowboys in a pair of chaps, riding out on a horse to wrangle up cattle. You might think of cactus and drab foliage, and dry desert areas where tumbleweeds blow freely in wide-open spaces. A lot of these views are true; there are still cowboys that ride into the open ranges for their cattle, and there are certainly dry desert areas where tumbleweeds blow across the prairies. But there is more to the western part of the country than just cowboys and cattle, too.

The style of the west has a more rustic look and feel to it than the east. There are wide-open spaces with nothing but land, and an abundance of tumbleweeds that lazily roll across the fields. There are lots of Native Indians in the western states, where Casinos and adobes can be seen. There is a laid-back feel to the western states, where the people just roll along in life like the tumbleweeds that get tangled up in the fences that lazily sprawl across the prairies. Life seems slower in the west. There is not the hustle and bustle of the eastern world to cramp their lives. The western side of the country just seems to roll with the tumbleweeds.

The western culture, for the most part, is that of a mix of Native American and Spanish culture. There is just such a diverse group of people in the west and mid-west that they seem to intertwine so well. On one side of the highway you may see a large casino, owned by the Native Americans, and on the other side, you may see an authentic Mexican restaurant where you get can authentic Mexican cuisine. Whatever you like, the West has got it.
