Horseback Riding in the West

There are many places to experience the outdoor activity of horseback riding throughout the Western United States. Western ranches are among some of the most popular places where tourists and locals can trail-ride on horseback. Let’s take a look at some horseback riding opportunities that can be found in some of the western states.

Northern California is home to one such ranch, known as Drakesbad Guest Ranch. It is located within the Lassen Volcanic National Park, which is among the most beautiful scenic mountain valleys that Northern California has to offer. At this ranch, visitors can enjoy horseback riding on many nature trails where they will experience the beauty of nature by viewing hot springs as well as other geothermal active areas of the park. Drakesbad offers trails that are designed for beginner riders and they also have designated trails for more experienced riders as well.

Parade Rest Guest Ranch is another good place to experience horseback riding. This ranch is situated in West Yellowstone, Montana. Experienced wranglers are on hand to help and guide novice or advanced riders around the trails of the ranch. The mountains of Gallatin National Forests surround this dude ranch. A variety of wildlife can be found in this area such as grizzlies and elk.

Chanslor Ranch, which is located in Bodega, California, is another place for people to experience the thrill of horseback riding. At this ranch, anyone can enjoy riding a horse along the Sonoma coastline. Sand dunes and white sandy beaches include some of the terrain that these trails will take you across.
