Living in the Western United States

Living in the western United States will provide you with great diversity in economics, scenery and weather. It can be a wonderful place to live and also a scary place as well.

California is plagued with fires just about every year. These fires destroy hundreds of acres of trees and brush, to say nothing of the homes and outbuildings that fall victim to these awful blazes. California is also looking at a severe water shortage in a few years to come. Experts feel that due to the snow pack melting earlier than normal and being left to flow into the ocean rather than being useful to the populous.

Aside from those negative factors, the western United States is a beautiful place to live. Mountains, deserts and oceans are mostly with in a one day drive. Three of the most popular National Parks are in the western States, Yellowstone in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho, Arches National Monument in Utah, and, of course, the Grand Canyon in Arizona.

Weather in the western half of our country is generally better than it is in the east. The northern states, of course, experience cold spells and snow, but the south has glorious winter weather and hot summers. If you want to live in the Pacific Northwest, you will enjoy more four season type weather than you will in Southern California, Arizona and parts of New Mexico and Texas.

If you want to be able to enjoy the outdoors year around, the western United States is the place for you. Come on out, look around, you might like what you see and decide you want to live here, along with the millions of other people who have moved west from their homes in the east.
